MY WHY…
It’s difficult to truly put it all into words, please bare with me. Growing up, I was lucky enough to not struggle too much with body issues - I have always been relatively accepting and respectful of my body. I say relatively because I am human, I have my “bad” days - days where I feel absolutely terrible and no matter how much work I have done, it’s just a cry-it-out kind of moment. Days I look in the mirror and judge myself for everything I’m not. But being able to stand in a [rather] confidence space, going through all of those transitional years, was really helpful for me - and it hurt my heart to see friends, who were extremely beautiful, inside and out, battle with their self-worth. They didn’t deserve the abuse they tortured themselves with! Through boudoir, I am able to help others see themselves as I see them [ as their loved ones see them ] and begin to break that cycle of negativity and self-doubt.
To be apart of, such a life-changing transformation is mind blowing. Seriously, pinch me! There isn’t one session where a client’s jaw doesn’t hit the floor when I show them the back of my camera just a few frames in. Then, right before my very eyes, I watch their confidence level jump sky high as I step back and allow them to lean into the incredible badass goddess they have always been as they naturally move their bodies through each and every pose.
For me, boudoir boils down to the experience and the little or big things that change because of that experience. The overwhelming feeling of self-acceptance, self-worth, self-respect. The ability to take up space and stand confidently in your power. So much growth and healing evolve from one single session, encouraging someone to show up as they are, stand firmly in their believes, and unapologetically be themselves. It’s about a celebration of who you are, who you were, and who you have yet to become. Accepting all that makes you, you - flaws, strengths, compensations, and everything in between.
